Schools Hockey Tours The rainbow nation of South Africa and its diverse geography is one of the most popular countries in the world for Sports Tours and in particular Hockey. Hockey, which is well organised and predominant in the Cape Town area allowing you to extend or combine your tour with the Garden route and one of the many Safari parks and other natural attractions there are in this amazing area of the country. A wide range of hotels and apartments are available from 2-4 star, the teams range from social to veterans which will ensure the correct level of ability to suit you. There are city venues and beach locations for you to choose from. Field Hockey was introduced to Barbados in the late 1950’s with the creation of the Barbados Hockey Federation which represents both mens and womens teams on the island which has gone from strength to strength. The Astroturf field and stadium is located in the south of the Island at the Sir Garfield Sobers Complex just outside Bridgetown. More than 650 people participate in 20+ clubs around the island. There are national and international competitions for Juniors, Seniors and Veterans. The fun festival of the year is the Banks International Hockey Festival which is held in August annually which started in 1986 and attracts as many as 46 clubs to participate from around the world. Any Hockey tour to the island will be a memorable event combining sun, sea, sand and great competition along with life long friendships amongst the players and supporters. |
